- I am creating this community as a place to publicly post creative writing blurbs and some concept art I am working on. If you would like to contribute, please follow the below guidelines. The setting is between 1914-1942. Alternative History. This means appropriate technology level for the time, but this is not the same Earth we know and understand. Airships are mostly wooden with steampunk elements. Airships are the only way for humanity to survive, the surface of the earth itself is uninhabitable. Humanity does not have the appropriate technology to escape into space. Keep the content civil and safe. Keep the exact technology vague and uninteresting. The specifics are a way of life and are intended to be subtle. Reminder: all specific technology must be possible in our own timeline within reason. Example: light scout planes and parachutes are ok, high speed vtol capable harrier jets are not. Wind powered airships are ok, fusion powered nuclear submarines are not. If the technology requires innovation and resources only found on the surface of earth, they are not feasible. This includes the hydrogen/helium problem. Hydrogen can be generated with water and electricity. Helium can only be found below ground in rare specific deposits. Meaning most airships would be filled with hydrogen.
